Microwave Splatter Screen Review

I have had one of these for about 4 years, I bought it at Walmart. Of course, I went back about a year later to buy more and they didn't carry them anymore (usual Walmart policy, have a good seller, then stop selling it).

Anyway, I have been searching for these for about 6 months and was so excited when I found them here. The price is higher than Walmart's was, but they are worth it. They last a long, long time, my original one is still usable, just getting a few little holes in it.

I ordered 5 of these so I have a lifetime supply in case they stop making them. I don't use anything else in my microwave to cover food, these wash out so easy, just rinse. Even spaghetti sauce doesn't stain it. Even baked on cheese comes off! You do have to use a bit of soap to wash it for something like that.

You won't be sorry, buy some for your family, they'll love ya!

Revised Jan 2010 - Well, my replacement timer has been working fine. No more reviews on this.

Revised October 16, 2009 - It broke today! - I'll try another one. I hope this was a quirk.

OK - so kitchen timers should just work, and this one is OK. It is a bit quirky.

Downsides
- The display is a little hard to read due to glare when in direct light.
- The time "+" or "-" buttons are a bit stiff, and you have to hold them down for too long to get the time to increment without multiple pushes.

Upsides -
- The darn thing is just fun to have around and play with.
- The alarm is nice and loud and gives you a few bursts at a lower volume first so it won't surprise you if you are right next to it.
- You can't lose it! The bright red color is really easy to spot in a drawer.

Overall, I like it and use it regularly.

We bought this to replace a Gevalia carafe that was driving us nuts. The Gevalia leaked all the time, it was difficult to screw the lid on and off, and almost impossible to seat the carafe under the spout. The Zoji takes up far less space, is far lighter, and screwing on the lid and replacing it under the spout are a breeze. It also doesn't leak.

My husband is the coffee drinker, and I am the cleaner-upper, so I am very happy with the fact there is no coffee spilled everywhere and that my arthritic fingers are not laboring fruitlessly trying to get the lid back on. My husband is happy with the coffee and does not find the side controls to be a problem, nor does he find any of the procedure to fill the pot and get it ready to brew to be problematical. An added bonus is the timer feature and the fact that you can pour out a cup of coffee during the brewing process. He feels the indicators are very accurate and doesn't understand why people said they were useless.

He also used to work in the restaurant industry and it is a big no-no to use hot water for cooking because of impurities than can occur in water heaters. So he only brews from cold and has never found the coffee to be too cool for his taste. He drinks coffee at temperatures so high that I burn my tongue, so the coffee from this maker must be more than merely lukewarm or passable.

Lots of folks dislike the burnt flavor that coffee gets when it sits in a glass pot over a heating element. To avoid this, coffee shops often brew right into large thermal pots to keep the coffee warm without it becoming overcooked. The Zojirushi Fresh Brew does that, too, but in home-sized batches. Every L&L I've bought has been absolutely the best storage ontainers evr...but this one is a problem. It fits the perfect basic loaf but is not wide enough for Peppridge Farm or any other wider, higwerquality loaves of bread. Very skinny - fits a regular loaf nice and tight, all other have to be squeezed and squished to fit.

However, I never bought it to make the bread last longer, just stay a bit fresher and be stackable. I have not thown away a single loaf since I bought this - two weeks is no exageration, and they don't get "damp" or change from air etc. Ziplocs, foil, nothing keep bread like this without it changing the consisteny eventually. I still don't get it and it was a bonus I did not expect. The first two time, I had a few pieces left and put bread on the grogery list figuring they were going in the "bird" food (I crumble slightly stale bread for the birds as a treat in the yard). But to my amazement, they were fresh as day 1. Now I know to check the bread and not buy anymore because it's likely still good until it's gone.

I got all 3 sizes of this on a combo deal. They work great, they are nice and firm so they don't fall out when packing Mayo or what not in there. The only gripe is the top of the big one did come off, but probably due to my extra hot extra soaped dishwasher, it tends to disolve stuff like that. Starbucks cups fall apart often. So no big deal, cleaned it out, dried it out, a ring of Loctite super glue and it's not fallen off yet. I highly recommend buying them, and hand washing once used.

I have used them for less than a month for the kitchen. I am a 5'6" skinny guy. I always buy size S gloves and they fit me just like others. To my surprise, they are not as tight as the Walgreens brand latex I normally buy. Putting my hands in an out is easy with the lining compared to the latex Walgreens ones. They are not as slippery for dishes as one reviewer mentioned although they don't offer you the same good grip like the latex ones. Also they are definitely thicker (which everybody wants for the toughness)but I can still put my hand into some wide mouth bottles and cups with them.
I cannot comment on its value since they are my first pair (over ). I cannot tell you if they are better than the ones in Home Depot. They look the same to me. I always buy Walgreens gloves when they are on sale for under 40 cents a pair. I can buy over 25 pairs at that price instead of this brand. I hope they do last a long time like other people said.

I was a little skeptical when I read some of the reviews but since this cart fit my needs perfectly and I loved the idea that it's collapsible I figured I'd try it. Farberware Pro Stainless-Steel 15-Piece Fine-Edge Knife Set with Block, Black Review

I have had this set for over 3 years now. Cutting with these knives is a joy, and after using mine, several of my friends want their own set, too! The knives are comfortable in the hand, well-balanced, and stay sharp a good long time if steeled correctly. A good steel (it is not a sharpener) is supplied with the set. As with any quality knives, you will need to get them professionally sharpened every once in a while depending on use. For me, this is about once a year.

Do NOT put these knives (or any other stainless steel knives) in the dishwasher. Stainless steel won't rust due to humidity in the atmosphere, and won't corrode if used on acidic food like tomatoes or pineapples. BUT given time acidic food residue or even acidic water can cause stainless steel to discolor or rust. SO you have to wash your knives right after you use them, then dry them immediately before putting them back in their knife block!

Take good care of these knives, they are a good value and will serve you well for years if you do.

These are awesome. Really convenient to be able to leave them in the meat while grilling.

Maybe not super precise, but they are certainly close enough. (If I'm looking for a super accurate reading, like when I'm preparing a rare cut, I use these to get the meat to the general area and use a more precise thermometer to finish it off).

Just be careful, because they are easily small enough to fit down the garbage disposal... and they won't survive... I promise...

This review is for the KitchenAid KSB465RT 4-speed countertop blender with the 48-ounce polycarbonate jar in empire red. I really love this blender! Most of my experience has been with Oster blenders, and my last one was a beehive Oster. It didn't last long, maybe a year and a half. I have had this KitchenAid blender for about 3 months so I can't speak to it's longevity but I hope it lasts a long time.

THE LID: The lid design is much better than the Oster beehive. The Oster used to toss food on the wall and down the sides of the jar sometimes, making a mess that was hard to reach to clean on the base. This lid has a deep flange so food doesn't escape the blender.

THE JAR: The KitchenAid jar is plastic. That means it's lightweight, and it won't break if you drop it, but I suspect over time it will scratch and dull somewhat. The plastic jar has a deep flange at the base that I really like. Occasionally I would get the Oster not seated quite correctly and it would make a bad noise as it stripped gears. Oops! This jar always settles down correctly into place. If the jar ever did spill, this flange would keep the goo from going onto the twirling part of the base the way it did with the Oster.
Cleaning the jar: Once in a while I put the jar in the dishwasher. I like that the blade is part of the jar and there is no rubber ring to wash separately. It's just the jar and the lid. Most of the time I clean it by adding soapy water and turning the blender on for a minute, then rinsing it. It cleans easily.

THE BASE: While not completely flush, the buttons are almost flush with the base. This makes them very easy to clean. They're better designed than any other blender I've had. The whole base is easy to clean with just a swish of a damp sponge and towel. It is easy to operate the buttons.

NOISE: It's about as noisy as any blender I suppose. The noisiest I ever had was a Waring that made me leave the kitchen when it was on. This one may be a hair quieter than the Oster. They could all use mufflers, if you ask me.

COLOR: I love the red. It's the perfect red, not garish but warm and cheery. It did surprise me that this is *not* an exact match to KitchenAid's red food processor. That was disappointing. They look fine sitting close to one another, though.

THE FUNCTION: It blends as well as any blender I've had. I chop up huge frozen strawberries with it easily. When I put raspberries in my smoothies there is the occasional bit of seed to spit out of my mouth but I think all in all it grinds the raspberry seeds finer than my Oster did.

Recommended? YES! It's pretty to look at, and very easy to use and to clean. It's thoughtfully designed.

Farberware Classic Stainless Steel 17-Piece Cookware Set Review

Have had this set of pots for about a month now, and I love them. They arrived in a timely fashion and were well-packed. I originally thought I would purchase individual pots as needed in the local stores, but when I saw the number of pieces in this set for the price, I couldn't resist. Plus, they are all good size, usable pieces, not just various cooking implements included with the set to increase the number of pieces in it.

Everything I've cooked in them has turned out well. They clean up easily either by hand or dishwasher. The only thing I would prefer is an 8-quart pot that can be used as a dutch oven--one that is not as tall and has a broader base than the 8-quart stock pot that is included with the set so that browning meat is easier. Until I find a better one, I'll continue to use my old pot for stews and pot roast. I highly recommend this set of pots, especially at the Amazon price!

I bought this knife to replace a 20-year-old Henckels Gourmet series 5" serrated utility knife. Interestingly, I like this knife a lot more than the Henckels, and the Henckels had been my go-to knife for darned near all my cutting needs. The Oxo has a better balance and feel in the hand, and it is exceedingly sharp. It's half the price of the Henckels knife, and I feel that the quality is just as good, or better. I also own an Oxo 6" chef's knife that I like better than my Henckels chef knife.

I don't usually write reviews, but I wanted to give a big thumbs up (aka five stars) to these towels because I love them. I don't even use my other dish towels anymore, I am just constantly washing these so that I can use them again...guess I should order more. I've had them almost a year and they still are my best looking towels!

Great absorbency for drying dishes and very nice texture to the fabric. Taupe color is fantastic/neutral.

I love these OXO knives, good grip, good blade, good balance. They say don't put 'em in the dishwasher. Know why? They don't melt and are not damaged in any way other than the grit that comes in dishwasher soap blasts away at them and dulls the blade. I'm too lazy to hand wash them so I jam 'em in the dishwasher anyway, after about 20 washes you have to sharpen them again.

When I was ready to buy, I researched food processors until I had a headache. Everything I was reading kept bringing me back to the Cuisinart, but I really hesitated when I saw the 3 or so customer reviews about the locking mechanisms being tricky or difficult to work. I've never owned a food processor so I was very worried that a novice trying to work a sophisticated machine like the Cuisinart would put me in the same boat as those unhappy reviewers. I needn't have worried at all, however, for when my beautiful machine arrived I watched the included dvd tutorial and was able to work the processor like a pro in no time. I made chili in half the time it would have taken me to hand chop all the veggies.
The machine is easy to put together, easy to take apart, super easy to clean, and works like a dream. Have heart! Even a first timer can work the Cuisniart Prep 9 with ease!

This beater replaces the one shipped w/my new Artisan mixer. I agree w/other reviewers that this should be the beater shipped w/the mixer. After using my cheap, painted beater for a short time - it started flaking! My beater-to-bowl clearance was correct. When I complained to KA, I got an email explaining how to check the clearance & directing me to their overpriced website to buy a new beater. I was not impressed & fortunately, they are not the only place to buy a new beater. KA has slipped in quality over the last several years. I have an old KA mixer (20+ years) that I moved to my weekend house when I got the new Artisan. That beater/mixer is fine & has seen a lot of work.

This uncoated beater has to be hand washed or it will discolor....if they just went back to their old coating formula, we wouldn't have this problem!

I was skeptical at first when I saw this product in stores. I had bought a competitor's, square potholder and I found it heated up really quickly when I used it as a potholder. But if Le Creuset made something similar, I thought the quality would be better. It was!

I have been amazed at how well it works around the kitchen and the whole house! I can hold a heated pot/roast from my kitchen to screened-in porch with no fear it would heat up quickly. I even put it under my dog's bowl so it doesn't slide around when she eats from it. I put it under pot plants inside so they stay in place and not scratch my floor. And putting it in the dishwashwer for easy clean-up is the best!

I have been very satisfied with this product. I bought 4 more just so I can have them around the house and in the garage.

I just purchased my second roll-out shelf from Amazon Warehouse deals, used. It came to me in factory packaging with all hardware, etc. In fact, I could not tell the used one from the first one I bought new. That said, on with the review. While these drawers will reduce your storage space somewhat (about an inch on each of the 4 sides), the convenience of not having to dig wayyyy back into under-counter cabinets is worth it. Additionally, my husband is in a wheelchair, so these make previously innaccessible cabinet space VERY accessible. Installation: Easy. It took me about 20 minutes to install the first drawer as it went on the bottom of the cabinet and there was no worry about plumb, level, etc. Installing the second drawer above the first one took about 40 minutes because I wanted to make sure the tracks were plumb and level. This meant careful measurements and a double-check of said measurements with a level before I drilled pilot holes for the runner attachments in the back of the cabinet. These use only 8 screws for complete installation; 3 screws go in each runner to secure it to the interior of the cabinet, and 2 screws go in each drawer once you've determined how wide the drawer should be. The directions were clear and easy to follow; read them and do what they say and you'll be fine. I'd recommend these drawers to anyone who's tired of having to rummage around in deep, lower cabinets on their hands and knees. Fabulous value for the price, too.

The dinnerware itself it lovely and I am happy with it but I have 2 complaints. When you name a colour "scarlet" you expect the plates to be, well......scarlet! And that is not the right name for that color. I wanted RED plates and they are not exactly red. They are an orangish red. More red than orange, yes. But not the red I desired and definately not "scarlet" as you call it. I was disappointed in that, yet I still like them very much. My other complaint is that the Fiestaware I ordered from Amazon was very poorly packed. Out of the two sets I purchased, an item was broken and useless in each box! They were packed like I was taking them from a store into my car and to my home. Not like they were traveling across the country. Amazon must do something about this since I know I am not the first person to complain about it. And we feel helpless in the situation because it is too much trouble to ship back. It should have been packed right in the first place. I have ordered many fragile things online and I haven't any problems before. I even ordered separate scarlet pieces from Bealls and Mega China and they were packed great with plenty of bubble wrap and all to protect the product. Not so with the Amazon Fiestaware. I will have to order a whole other set now to make up for the breakage and just cross my fingers and hope they'll arrive in one piece, literally!

I've had a set of Egyptian cotton tea towels that are now 30 years old and they are getting pretty ratty. I have been looking, literally, all over the country, and the only ones I could find were very, very expensive. I found these but could not get these shipped to Canada. When a friend went south for the winter, I was able to have them sent to her. They are wonderful now and I know the more they are washed, the softer and more absorbent they become. They are a great product and a great value.

First of all, Cook's Illustrated recommends it; enough said.

Number 1: Polycarb jar. No, it doesn't stain or smell, (unless you leave tomato juice in it for a week). Plus, if you drop it on the floor the only thing you'll be picking up is the intact jar, NOT GLASS. I personally love this blender's jar because with the wide base I can put it straight into the refrigerator if I have anything left over. Again, it won't stain. The spout on the top comes in really useful when I make pancake batter in it, I put everything into the jar, mix, and then pour straight into the pan.

I've never had any sort of leaking, that issue was fixed been fixed several years ago by KitchenAid.

Number 2: Buttons. I really don't get people who buy blenders with the old style buttons that have an air gap around them. The first time you spill something (and you will if you're using a blender a lot or even a little) it's going to go right into the base, and it's NEVER going to get clean. Give me this flat panel button type any day, incredibly easy to clean, nice tactile response.

Number 3: All the speed settings you could want. Plus ice crushing. The KitchenAid comes with 5 different speeds, plus a pulse feature that can be used with each one. Plus every speed starts off slow for a second and then switches into its mode. The "Soft-Start" feature they mention.

Number 4: Heavy base. Never had a problem with it "walking" and I'velet it sit and blend for a couple minutes on liquefy just to be sure.

The only downside I've had is it can be a little loud on the highest setting, but I expect that from any blender.

Above anything else, my timer MUST have a keypad. I cannot abide devices that force you to hold down keys and scroll through numbers to reach the one(s) you want. So, in the limited selection of small timers meeting that criterion, this one has been, far and away, the best. I bought one to keep next to my laptop to remind me of upcoming conference calls when I work from home; then I purchased another to keep at work for the same reason; and the third one I acquired is used at home for a variety of purposes. I put it on a ribbon and wear it around my neck when I want to remind myself to take the laundry out of the dryer (no wrinkles!) or to turn off the water in the yard (conservation during California drought times) or not to dawdle in the bathroom when I'm getting ready to go out for the evening; and, of course, for the customary remninders when cooking. All three units have worked flawlessly for the 3 years I've had them. They've taken their fair share of knocks and drops and other forms of mild abuse. So I just purchased two more: one to keep by my bed for short naps (why wrestle with an inaccurate alarm clock when you want to set a beeper *quickly* for exactly 49 minutes??) and I think I'll keep the other one in my tote bag or car for when I'm out and about, multi-tasking my tush off, and need a gentle reminder.

[By the way, this unit is a handy social tool if you are looking for a graceful exit from a phone conversation. There's something authoritative and nonjudgmental about a timer interrupting and urging you to attend to your next task. Be sure the other party doesn't hear you setting, it though!]

The clip, magnet, and hole are (so far as I know) unique to the design in this unit and make it very versatile and handy to use in a variety of settings for a multitude of tasks. I always hold the timer in my hand when I set it and turn it off, so I have no complaints about its lack of stability when it is affixed to a refrigerator or other surface.

I purchased these on sale a few years ago. I have two whisks, this one is the smaller one, and I use it more. I got rid of my old can opener. This one glides and is super easy to use. I also got rid of my other ice cream scoop. The scoop from this set still looks brand new, not staining or peeling like my old one. I also use the grater frequently, although I will be finding a replacement since the sides are cracking. I will be hand washing my next one, but its great for just a little cheese on soup, salad or pasta. The only one I cannot really attest to is the vegi peeler. I have two OXO brand ones that I use, one serrated, one not. I know I have used this one, just don't remember how it compared. Overall, I find all of those tools useful and would recommend the set. Great gift idea for newlyweds and I love the red, matches with my kitchenaid appliances.

I've had this KitchenAid 770 food processor for a few years and it was my first ever food processor. I honestly don't know how I ever lived without one. It's not just beautiful (if you have stainless steel appliances, this matches perfectly!), it's a workhorse too. The Brushed Aluminum is METAL NOT PLASTIC. (I bought a Cuisinart Coffee on Demand and it's plastic stainless steel "look"...which they never tell you, BTW...though it is very pretty). Just so you know, the KitchenAid 770 IS metal and heavy. I never knew food could be chopped so fast. The first time I used it my first reaction was "HOLY *&%# is this FAST!!"

Last summer I bought a friend a 2 gallon lemonade jar for her vacation home and filled it with homemade lemonade. I used my KitchenAid juicer attachment and had lemons juiced in a fraction of the time it would have taken me to do it by hand. The juicer also has 2 different size heads. A large one for oranges and grapefruit and a small one for lemons and limes. How sweet is that?? If you like fresh orange juice, you will love the juicer attachment. I have never used my whisk because I have a KitchenAid stand mixer for that, but I've used everything else and they worked PERFECTLY and FAST! The storage box for the accessories is very nice to have too. It keep everything in its place and ready for use when you are ready to use them.

You just need to make sure the bowl is aligned on the base correctly or it won't turn on. The first time I didn't do it right I freaked out. I don't want anyone else to have a stroke too. :)

If you're thinking about this food processor...buy it! It looks SOOOOOOO nice sitting on the counter and it makes the tedious job of chopping food (I'm no chef...I'm a slow chopper, OK? ;)) so fast and easy. Plus, cleanup is a BREEZE. I wash everything by hand, but I know other people throw their blades and bowls in the dishwasher with no problem. I just toss the parts in a sink of hot soapy water and by the time I get to them, it's a quick swish and I'm done.

Just a warning...it weighs a ton so be prepared for that when it's delivered. I promise, you won't regret this purchase. It's worth every cent.

We bought a new house, so I decided we weren't going to pack the old manual can opener. While it had served me well for more years than I want to admit and still performed well, I figured this was a perfect opportunity to find a replacement. I went searching on Amazon and found this one.

This can opener, unlike other manual openers cuts the can on the side instead of from the top. This not only prevents accidental cuts, but allows one to use the top as a lid for cleaning out the can before recycling. Additionally shavings or dirt won't fall into the food.

Opening from the side means this opener works a little different from top cutters. The knob is used to lock the opener onto the can's lip. Turn until the slight resistance has stopped indicating a complete revolution, then unlock and use the lid lifter to remove the lid.

Even though this opener opens from the top, it is simple to use and safer. Additionally it is sturdy and feels good in the hand. I suspect this replacement will serve me well for more years that I want to admit. If you are in the market for a new manual can opener, this is the one to get.

We tried several other blender brands and models before settling on the CBT-700. Previous purchases were wrought with poor performance, cheap materials, or flat out failure of vital components.

The Cuisinart CBT-700 is the latest blender model to be released from the company, having first hit the market in March of 2009. The blender features the wide glass jar of the CBT-500 with a newly designed 6 bladed blade design. The new blade is supposed to be better at creating the vortex action needed to pull the food into the blades for proper blending. It also features a new SMART electronics system that provides preprogrammed cycles for Smoothies and Ice Crushing.

After having been disappointed with the blending action the Waring Classic, we were very pleased with the results we are getting from the CBT-700. I have found that although the Smoothie function works very well, I still feel the need to use the PUREE speed for a few more seconds afterwards to get the smoothie to the consistency I like. Running the smoothie cycle twice would be too much, and this one short extra step is no problem for me.

The blender is relatively quiet considering the 700 watt motor. It is easily the quietest blender we have tried so far and I have no issues with the motor noise. I think those who have complained about this model's motor noise have NO IDEA how much louder competing blenders can be! ;o)

After suffering through the early failure of the Oster Beehive Classic due to a sheared off rubber drive coupler, I was pleased to see that the CBT-700 uses the traditional star shaped "clutch" design used on many other brands. In this case, the clutch is made out of a vinyl plastic that has some give to it similar to rubber clutches, yet immune from the degradation rubber clutches fall victim to after a year or two. Contrary to some of the other reviews, the clutch of the CBT-700 is NOT plastic in the true sense of the word. Plastic is less forgiving and can easily break under stress. Because of this difference, I am optimistic that this clutch material will hold up.

While we are very pleased with the performance of this blender, it does not create a vortex as well as the Oster Beehive Classic model we tried, but since that blender had a serious problem with their rubber drive coupling shearing off easily, we feel that the Cuisinart is the best performer of anything in this price range that WORKS! On that note, the CBT-700 also features a 3 year warranty, which is the best warranty of anything in this price range. The blender is easy to clean and the blade and jar are easy to take apart for cleaning. The lid is also very well designed and we have had no issues with leaking.

Estetically, the CBT-700 is hands down the best looking blender we have tried.

Taking all things into consideration I feel that the CBT-700 deserves a 5 star rating. We have owned this blender for 4 months.

Next to my chef's knife, this is the number one most used tool in my kitchen! These shears cut smoothly & easily, they're sharp enough for any task you might want to put them to. They're also sturdy and comfortable, the plastic handle doesn't slip or slide. They disassemble easily for cleaning, but stay solidly together when you want them together. The add-on features like bone notch and bottle opener all work well, but I like the notches on the inside of the handle, which are meant to be grips for opening jars and such. This is a genuine multitasker and does about a dozen different tasks (and does them well).

The plastic sheath shown in the picture has a magnet attached, designed to stick to your fridge, oven, or hood. This might be handy for those of you without space in your knife block or drawer but these shears are magnetic themselves so I just stick them along side the rest of my cutlery on my magnetic strip.

One note about branding: Shun is owned by Kershaw. These shears are marketed as part of the Shun cutlery sets, but mine say Kershaw on the blade. Don't sweat it- the names are basically interchangeable. The Kershaw brand makes some great utility/pocket knives, by the way. I owned Kershaw knives long before I ever bought my first Shun. And if you're a really observant fan of Good Eats, you'll notice that Alton Brown's pocket knife is a Kershaw ;)

I got this canning kit because I was tired of picking up boiling-hot canning jars and lids with salad tongs. The lid lifter works very well and does a great job of picking up and transferring lids from their prep water to the jar top and the magnet isn't so strong that you're always fighting it. The jar lifter worked very well for pulling the jars out of my steam canner following their canning cycle. The funnel was very helpful and resulted in the jars being clean even after filling--I only had to wipe 2 out of the 10 that I filled with the funnel, whereas without the funnel I always had to wipe all of my jar lids and then occasionally I would get one jar that didn't stay sealed and several that got stuck to their rims. This is a good kit well worth the < that I paid for it.

This kettle is amazing. It boils water very quickly in less than 60 seconds. I use it on my breaks to make tea and hot chocolate between work. It works so well that I brought several for my relative as gift and they are extremely happy with it. Because it heats so fast, I also use it to boil the hot water for preparation to cook pasta.

It has 360 degree rotation cord and automatic shut off so I don't need to turn it on or off. The glass carafe and stainless steel body is very easy to clean and there is no plastic smell after two weeks. After using it for a long while, some water deposit shows up. I just add water, and let it boil. Take it out, add a cup of vinegar and let it sit for an hour. Then rinse out and add fresh water to boil. After that all the deposit are gone and clean as new.

It also has a wide base and easy to grip handle. The body is made of glass and not of plastic as other reviewer described.

It also has a attached plastic lid at top with wired filter. This lid must be closed to make auto shut off work.

The glass carafe body is wrapped around with stainless steel at bottom. The flat heating element is also stainless steel. It has a plastic heat sensor at the top of the pot that never touch the water.

How many pepper mills have you owned?? We have probably had at least 8-10 over the years. Some we bought, some were gifts, all of them broke. This one stands alone, I bought this at the farmers market (Harry.s) here in Atlanta about 15 years ago. I thought it was expensive and at that time had only gone through a few of them. It has never stopped working, I have had to clean the grinding wheel twice over the years, mainly because I purchase my own pepper mixture at the farmers market and occasionally can get some slightly "green" peppercorns and that will clog it up. The only downside is it is solid brass and 10" high. It tends to get knocked over once and awhile when cooking and you may get tired of looking at it. Just take some Brasso, clean it up and your old friend is looking good as new!!!

We got this saucepan couple of weeks ago. At this point it is working fine, but my wife is concern that it is made in China. You can clearly see the difference with Calphalon pans she has that are made in US. The pan and led handles are attached in different (less elegant)way than original Calphalon pans. We did not notice any difference in performance, but, as I said, we have it only for couple of weeks and you do expect this product to work for years. So, we'll see.

The delivery of product by Amazon was flawless.

We purchased this scale in December 2009 based on the reviews on it and the company. We are extremely happy the scale. We usually weigh food in grams so we are always dealing with whole numbers, but have occasionally used ounces and pounds. The lcd display is large enough for my visually impaired husband to read (though he'd prefer and led display.) My husband has lost over 35 pounds (over 15% of his weight) using the scale to weigh everything he eats.

The book that comes with the scale has just about every food in it and the multiplier to calculate the calories. The biggest issue for him was finding someone to read the number to him. This morning, he looked around the the EatSmart website to see if a PDF version of the book might be there. No luck. He contacted the company to see if the book was available in PDF form. Bill, from EatSmart, responded within about 10 minutes with the PDF attached!
